OFFICERS
HEATHER GREEN, President
In 2001 Heather had her first daughter, Gabby, who was born with Down syndrome. In 2004, along with two other families, Heather found the Down Syndrome Information Alliance. She has been active with DSIA ever since, serving as Vice President, Executive Director, and currently serving as DSIA’s Program Coordinator. Heather previously worked for Sacramento County as a Deputy Sheriff, and now, along with DSIA, Heather works for the Sacramento County Office of Education as a Parent Representative. She also stays busy at home. Together, she and Andy have 6 children – in 3 different schools, 5 different school schedules, and 2 dogs! Also, Heather and Andy write a blog about life, loss, and love. MONICA CRUMLEY, Vice President
Monica and her husband, Doug, have 5 children. Their fourth child, John Michael, has Down syndrome, and teaches them daily to slow down and enjoy life. Monica has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, but currently stays home to raise her children. In her spare time, she volunteers at her kids’ schools, sings in a vocal group and writes a blog about raising a child with Down syndrome. Send email to Monica.
JONNA HEICHLINGER, Secretary
Jonna and her husband Matt live in Rocklin with their 3 children: Abbey,William, and Grace. Their daughter, Grace (born in 2008) is the blessing that brought them to DSIA. Prior to the birth of their son, Jonna worked as a teacher's aide for a Developmentally Delayed Kindergarten Class and had the absolute joy of getting very familiar with children living with Down syndrome. Jonna also taught swim lessons for 16 years and often had the pleasure of working with people of all ages in the water with a little something extra. Send email to Jonna.
TREVOR STAPLETON, Treasurer
Trevor Stapleton joined the DSIA Board in 2008 and also serves as the organization’s Treasurer. Trevor and his wife, Julie, are the proud parents of 2 boys, Riley (4) and Joseph (3). Beginning with Joseph’s pre-natal diagnosis, Trevor and his family have and continue to experience the challenges facing a young child with Down syndrome. As a result, Trevor is very passionate about the DSIA’s programs, experiencing firsthand the support and hope the DSIA brings to individuals and families affected by Down syndrome. When not spending time with his family or serving the DSIA, Trevor is a partner with Wilke, Fleury, Hoffelt, Gould & Birney, LLP, one of Sacramento’s oldest and most respected law firms, serving the Sacramento Valley region since 1922. SUSAN BIERY
Susan and her husband, John, have three girls. Her middle child has been blessed with an extra chromosome. She has a bachelor's in business management with an emphasis on entrepreneurship from BYU. She is currently working part-time on a degree as a physician assistant. Send email to Susan.
HECTOR SANCHEZ
Hector and his wife Jennifer have four children. Their third son, Joaquin, has Down syndrome. Their love for him inspired them to adopt their daughter Sofia from an orphanage in Ukraine in Summer 2010. Hector has a master's degree from Stanford University in Engineering Economic Systems, and has more than 15 years of experience in software design and architecture. He currently works at CustomerLink as a senior software engineer, and stays active training for triathlons and chasing four kids. Send email to Hector.
SHEREE HOLBROOK
Sheree and her husband Nguyen live in Elk Grove with their two children. Their youngest child, Gabby (born in 2008) was born with Down syndrome and has introduced them to the many supportive families within the community, including the DSIA. Sheree is dedicated to advocating for her daughter and has made it her goal to spread awareness about Down syndrome whenever she gets the opportunity! BRITTANY BOUCHARD
Brittany Bouchard is a business professional with an area of specialty in Marketing, Public Relations and Event Planning. She obtained her bachelors degree from Sonoma State University and has held positions with an array of organizations such as the California Exposition and State Fair and Sonoma State Entrepreneurial Activities. She currently works for Dignity Health Medical Foundation in Rancho Cordova. Brittany has always had a strong passion for volunteering her time to non-profits and is an Americorps grant recipient and an alumni of the Student Conservation Corps. She is drawn to DSIA because of their mission and deep passion to offer direct services for families in the vast Sacramento area living with Down syndrome. Send email to Brittany.
NANCY MUIR
Nancy and her husband, Alastair, live in Rocklin with their three children. They began gathering information about Down syndrome when they found out their daughter, MacKenzie, was carrying an extra 21st chromosome before she was born. They realized from the beginning that their daughter would and could do anything and everything everyone else does, and it is that attitude that has pushed them and their daughter to not let anything hold her back. Nancy works for Placer County, is a Girl Scout Troop Leader, loves driving her son all over Northern California to watch him play soccer, and enjoys relaxing with her family. Send email to Nancy.

JOSEPH PINTER, MD, Medical Advisor
Dr. Pinter is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Oregon Health and Science University. He is board certified in Neurology with special qualifications in Child Neurology. Dr. Pinter completed his pediatric neurology training at Harvard/Boston Children's Hospital and conducted his post-doctoral fellowship in neurology at UC San Francisco. He also served on the faculty of the UC Davis Medical Center and the UC Davis M.I.N.D Institute in Sacramento. Dr. Pinter has clinical interests in general pediatric neurology, congenital brain anomolies, Tourette syndrome and Down syndrome. His research has focused on neuroimaging, and he has published articles chronicling his studies of brain imaging of children with Down syndrome in the American Journal of Psychiatry and Neurology.
